Statement
Springfield, Ohio native Ron Stephens developed artistic talents at an early age. He practiced his craft independently and through lessons at the Dayton Arts Institute and Wittenberg University. Stephens is highly creative in multiple art forms, including hat design, tailoring, furniture upholstery, interior design, woodworking, painting, and drawing.
While Stephens enjoys expressing himself in various artistic ways, including playing piano and singing, his most consistent expression is through graphite portraiture of ordinary and influential people. His vignettes take you on journeys through the lives of individuals or the intersecting journeys of many. His depictions of buildings and trucks, as sensitive as his portraits of children and families, prove a love for the craft, evident in every stroke and shadow on the page.
Stephens, a father of five, including superstar John Legend, and grandfather of 11, with one on the way, lives in New Albany, OH with his wife Deidre.
