Matthew Mohr is one of Columbus’ most well-recognized artists. His sculpture “As We Are,” known as “the giant head of Columbus,” is in the permanent collection of the Greater Columbus Convention Center and one of the city’s iconic public works of art.
An Associate Professor at the Columbus College of Art & Design, Mohr makes art that engages with the moment with all its concerns and celebrations-technological, social, environmental.
His most recent project, “Lightning Sprites,” features solar-powered kinetic sculptures and prints. Fantastic, communal, strange and familiar at once, they offer amusing but serious commentaries on contemporary life.
