Any journey begins with a place. Sometimes it’s home from which we depart or perhaps home to which we return or seek.
In “The Beginnings of Journeys,” Paul Hamilton, a master of contemporary realist painting, evokes the places and spaces where the artist’s life and work intertwine. Born in California and raised in Florida, Hamilton has lived and worked in Granville, Ohio for over fifteen years. This personal history infiltrates his subject matter: paintings of Ohio, abstract work evoking early years as a student, a massive marine-themed sculpture, and interiors where space takes on a contemplativeness and atmosphere of its own. Stop in to experience this body of work that merges both the intimacy and majesty of nature, and maybe discover, once again, a familiar place anew.
